The World is Truly Obscure

This poem was written as an excersise in surrealism. I found it really hard and when I had first wrote it I wasn't all that impressed. Now however, I am quite happy with the way it turned out and I would like to share it. Enjoy.

My World is Upside-Down
January 2011

The rainbow flavoured drops fell up from the ground
And the flowers that grew from the sky
Were a lovely sight to my laughter burned eyes
My mother would have loved this.

She will never smell the colours of the grass
Or see the scent of the breeze
She will never taste the softness of the earth
Or touch the sweetness of the clouds

She has left me surrounded by the wispy shadows of death
And alone by the sun beams of life
My mind so confused
Yet I’m seeing so straight.

I continue to fly along the well beaten path
My feet dragging across the ground
My finger tips touched the cotton candy clouds
Leaving blood running down my arms

Slowly sinking into a dark oblivion
Shards of diamonds slice at my feet
Leaving eviscerating cuts on my wrists
Where now my heart spills out.

She has gone and I am surrounded by the wispy shadows
Alone among the darkening sun beams of life
I can finally think clearly
But my vision has faded.

I can no longer see the daisies
I can no longer feel the rain
I can no longer see the falling sun
I can no longer feel the flowing breeze

I can only feel the dripping blood
I can only see the crimson streams
Soon I will see her loving face
Soon I will feel her loving embrace.

My world has been turned downside up
But soon it will be right-side down
And soon the sun will shine
And the moon reflect its light.
